If you’ve been following me for a while. You’ve probably seen a dramatic change in the way we live. We’ve become much more aware of what we eat. What we put in our bodies. What we give our children.  My husband lost 60+lbs this past year while I struggled with my health. Both mentally + physically. I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone and have been more open with my Anxiety more than ever but I haven’t been as open to you about root. Hang tight it’s long, real and honest.

Jan of 2017 I became extremely short of breathe. At first I brushed it off as a PP anxiety symptom but unfortunately it got worse. Then came weakness. Weakness to the point of I could barely carry my infant son. Something wasn’t right. I started off with my primary Doctor. I immediately went in for blood work and a chest x Ray. I had pneumonia. I was put on medicine to treat it but shockingly I didn’t get better. I was then told I needed to see a lung specialist because of something on my chest x ray and maybe it wasn’t pneumonia after all. Total breakdown. After a couple more appointments, a trip to the hospital, two rounds of heavy antibiotics + steroids and seen by a lung specialist. I was told I had asthma caused most likely from allergies. Uh what? No pneumonia? No blood clot (thank god) All this caused by freaking allergies? Are you kidding? I never had asthma before. I was completely shocked but thankful nothing more serious was going on, relived but traumatized.

I also was seeing a ENT doctor who suggested I do allergy shots. He told me allergy shots would help clear my ears, help with my recent asthma diagnosis and all the way around help me. Given with what my lung specialist said and what he said I agreed to the shots. I mean why wouldn’t you listen to your Doctor? Two months into weekly allergy shots I started feeling weird. Real weird. I was experiencing extreme fatigue, joint pain, muscle pain, tingling arms + feet and my anxiety was off the charts. I was consumed with the thought of dying. Something was wrong. I went to countless Doctor appointments, another trip to the hospital all for everyone to tell me I was fine. Then what the heck was wrong with me!! Lost, deflated and needing answers, I started doing research on allergy shot side effects (why didn’t I do this BEFORE!) and turns out plenty of people had fatigue and RA like symptoms. I immediately stoped after 3ish months. I than slowly stoped my daily allergy meds + nose spray altogether and what do you know? I started feeling myself again. Slowly. I still suffered from joint pain + some muscle pain but overall I felt better. I still have flares, almost a year later and I've been left with plenty of anxiety. The thought that no one can really give me a real answer to what made me so sick in the first place haunts me. To be turning only twenty eight waking up with daily joint and muscle pain is something I never dreamed of. It was a REAL eye opener for me. It was flat out terrifying. Treating the cause of something instead of the symptoms is what we need to get back to. Pushing allergy shots on me and medicine down my throat had really awful side effects. Scaring me both mentally and physically. I now double question everything.

I’ve since turned to a holistic approach. I started using food + supplements to heal my body. Have you ever heard of gut health? Turmeric? The dangers of Inflammation? The magic of greens? It will BLOW your freaking mind if you forget what you’ve been told and actually do some research, read labels, watch a documentary or 5, educate yourself!! Needless to say, I can see the light.

I'm happy to say.. I no longer struggle with daily muscle + joint pain. I no longer feel weak or in desperate need to rest my body in the afternoon. I hardly ever become sick. I'm pretty much anxiety free and ALL OF THAT is in part of finding the holistic healing and learning about gut health and inflammation!
