My Morning Routine That Keeps Me Mostly Sane

First, make sure you get eight hours of sleep. We have to allow our bodies to rest. And yes girl, I have a bedtime. My phone is set to go on do not disturb at 10 pm. That way there are no distractions. I actually take it a step further and really try to make the effort to be off the phone by 8pm, allowing me to fully enjoy a little "me time" after the kids are in bed and before I hit the pillow for the rest of the night.

6am: Wake up.
I wake up before anyone in my house. As hard as it was to get used to this because lets be real.. homegirl, likes her sleep. But I truly enjoy and honestly crave the quite.

Once I wake up, I head to the bathroom. I wash my face, put on some moisturizer and redo my messy mom bun. A little self care in the morning really does pay off.

I then head straight to my Keurig and make a cup of coffee. Hot. I ENJOY IT HOT. I'm not sure about you.. but this is a huge win for me.

While I sip on my hot delicious coffee without interruptions, I journal. I practice gratitude and goal setting and start my day off with purpose. Goal setting is a way to fuel your ambition. It is holding yourself accountable and aim to go after the things we never thought possible.  Practicing gratitude is so important babe! When you take the time to reflect on all the things you currently have and are truly thankful for your experiences..things shift. The universe listens. They say people who practice this feel more alive, sleep better, express more compassion, kindness and even have stronger immune systems.. uh what?

Lastly, before my home wakes.. I just do what feels right. Sometimes I catch the sunrise outside with my dogs. Others, I stretch and do some yoga. Sometimes I just lay back in bed with my husband. This is your free time.  You could go for a walk, listen to your favorite podcast, get a few chapters in on your current read, sneak in your favorite tv show. Do whatever it is you feel you need in that moment.

*On days that I'm in the salon, I then take this time to get ready for work.

7am:
If Harper is not awake by now.. I go in and wake her up to get ready for the day and school. Feeling refreshed.. this is where we chat about our day, have breakfast together. We are able to really enjoy our morning without the chaos.

When you set intention to your day. There is no reason to feel overwhelmed or rushed. You will have less anxiety throughout your day and be in a much better mood.

Alone time is when I distance myself from the voices of
the world so I can hear my own.

I get it.. the thought of waking up early can turn you off but give it a try! I think you'll be impressed with how smoothly your day goes and bonus the day comes with a great mood. So stop hitting snooze and run the day. Stop letting the day run you.
